Hello, Chefs, Culinarians and Associates
I hope the everyone had a great summer and is enjoying the fall weather. To say that the association has had a very productive year is an understatement. Hitting the ground running this year the board along with members set out and accomplished great strides in moving the association forward. In June we held the 2nd annual Crab Feed at Idlewild Park. This event was a huge success this year growing over 50% In attendance and bringing in almost $5,000 for the association. Special thanks to Brandon Crowell and his family at Sierra Gold Seafood for their continuing support and generosity and helping to make this event so successful. In September, the association worked with the Reno Sunrise Rotary for the Edible Pedal 100. This event brings cyclists in from all over the country for a one day bike ride starting at Bowers Mansion and riding all the way up Spooner Summit and finishing back at Bowers Mansion. Congratulations to our own Darrin McCillip for participating and completing the entire ride. The association worked for months prior on the food preparation with the Reno Rotary on the event which had 900 riders and 200 volunteers. With a special menu for the event paying close attention to vegetarian, gluten, dairy and vegan diets we came up with a fantastic menu. Being praised as the best food to date served at the event everyone who participated and helped with the event was ecstatic. All done and said the Edible Pedal helped put over $24,000 in the account for the association. Back in March I started work on the new website for the association acfhsca.org. JM Studios came through with the professionalism and insight that we needed to update our old and outdated website. Members can now go on the website and renew their membership or check out how to get certification. There is a great source of information for all of the members and public about our organization, who we are and what we are about. The new events page will have every event that the association will be holding in example board meetings, CEH classes, dinners, meet and greets, and upcoming events. We are very proud of what we put together so take a minute and look over the website see what it has to offer. Moving into late fall and winter we have the upcoming elections for the 2017 board members so make your vote count. Ballots will be going out shortly and will be able to be done by mail or online this year. The Christmas dinner is also back this year after taking a couple of years off and is being held at Hidden Valley Country Club on December 12th. If you have any questions about this dinner check out the new website, click on events and click on the Christmas dinner. Tickets can now be purchased on the website for this event which also counts as your reservation. I hope to see everyone there enjoying themselves and the company.
