  • Ann Hersey Culinary Scholarship

The Ann Hersey Culinary Scholarship was created to honor the life and legacy of a remarkable woman. Ann Hersey, who has always had a deep appreciation for food, viewed it not only as nourishment but as a way to connect with others and spread joy. Even now, living in an assisted living facility, her love for good food remains strong.

When her family asked her which field she would like to support through a scholarship, Ann responded swiftly and certainly: culinary studies. She has long believed in the power of cooking to bring people together and enhance the quality of life, which made it an easy choice. However, there’s also a personal aspect to her decision. Ann has lamented the decline in the quality of food at her facility for years, often joking that the meals seem to get worse with each passing day. In her heart, she might secretly hope that a talented culinary student will come along one day, bringing creativity and skill to her dining table.

Through this scholarship, her family seeks to honor Ann’s love for food, her enduring belief in the value of culinary education, and her lasting impact on those around her. The hope is that future chefs, inspired by this gift, will pursue their passion and understand the profound effect their craft can have on people’s lives. Perhaps one day, a recipient of the Ann Hersey Culinary Scholarship will bring a little extra flavor and joy to places like Ann’s facility, where it’s needed most.

This Scholarship is open to high school seniors beginning their journey in a Post-secondary culinary education.

The application deadline is April 1, 2025. The award will be announced by May 1, 2025.
